This is the second in the series and I can't wait to read the first. Juliet is the heroine of the story, her best friend is arrested for murder. She works overtime to prove his innocence. The characters are vivid, the story keeps moving and you second guess yourself. Its not until the very end that the killer is revealed. Could not put it down. Think I'll have another cup! I received a free copy from Houseparty, to read and review.

I received an ARC from Netgalley via the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This is the second book in the Java Jive Mystery Series by Caroline Fardig. Juliet Langley is again involved in a murder, this time not as a suspect, but as a concerned friend. Pete is the main suspect in a gruesome murder, and Juliet takes it upon herself, with a little bit of help from Ryder, to figure out this whodunnit so Pete doesn't rot in jail. This is a great cozy mystery that has some crazy-funny characters. Very enjoyable.

If like Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum stories than you will enjoy the Java Jive series. True this is the first book I've read in the series, but you can get a very good feel for the writer and series's. I liked how well written the story was, and how it was easy to follow, even with all the characters that kept popping up. Juliet a former musician now manager of Java Jive is best friends with Pete, the owner. When Pete's girlfriend Cecilia is murdered, Pete is charged. Juliet enlists her best female friend Savannah, a rich society gal, who has all the connections Juliet needs to help prove Pete's innocence. Along the way Juliet is dating the brother of the deceased, Stan, and her ex-boyfriend, who happens to be a cop, Ryder, all help in their own ways. This is a true mystery, cheating, surprise pregnancies, who benefits the most from the killing, businesses going bankrupt, blackmailing, extortion, just to name a few. I would like to add, I was giving this book in advance from Random House Mystery to read, and review, but the review is strictly my own thoughts and opinions.

Mug Shot is the second book in Caroline Fardig's Java Jive Mystery Series. In this installment, Juliete Langley, manager of Java Jive coffee shop, is bound and determined to find evidence to clear her best friend and Java Jive owner, Pete Bennett, of the murder of his girlfriend, Nashville socialite Cecilia Hollongsworth. Although Juliete and Cecilia were never friends, in fact you could say they were enemies, Juliete is moved by her death and seeks to bring the killer to justice, especially since it will clear her best friend. Her unorthodox methods of investigation put her at risk yet she is able to learn and tell police of her findings. Even though her on again off again boyfriend, Detective Ryder Hamilton, continually cautions her, even following her, he is not there when she makes startling discoveries that put her life in peril. With a host of suspects, a tawdry backstory of what Cecilia was up to, and a devoted friendship in the mix, Mug Shot is an intricately woven mystery that will keep you guessing until the very end. As with her other mystery novels, Caroline Fardig has again plotted a mystery that will keep you page turning late into the night. I do recommend Mug Shot, it definitely delivers
