I loved the dog, Alice, and author's ability to create such realistic characters that we want to keep them in our life as our friends. The author deals with the problems of addiction and mental illness and its toll on a family with grace and hope. But mostly I just loved the old dog.

Disappointed that I bought a book I already have but was RENAMED! It used to be titled Runaway Mistress. It's a good book but a rip-off to dupe avid readers and fans this way. Beware!
