Great book but lots of mixing of present and past tenses. The story is really good, just needs a good editor.
  • Awakening sexual desires and emotional vulnerabilities combined with a beautiful love story!

This was my first time reading Jennifer Dawson, and it certainly won't be my last. When I started reading this book, I didn't realize it was part of a series (Undone). It is a testament to Ms. Dawson's writing that I didn't feel that I was missing anything in not having the backstory from the first book. It is easily read and enjoyed as a standalone. Ms. Dawson takes a well-known plot line of falling from your brother's best friend and turns it on it's head. Jillian feels the explosive chemistry with her brother's best friend, Leo, every time their paths cross. She doesn't understand why he won't give in to their obviously mutual attraction, and she attempts to force his hand by admitting and acting on their attraction at her brother's promotion party. Leo has kept his best friend's little sister at a distance for years because she doesn't know that he and her brother are Dominants. He doesn't believe she is submissive and doesn't want to impose his preferences on her. He also doesn't think her brother and his best friend will approve of the match, and he doesn't want to risk the friendship because Michael is the closest thing Leo has to a brother since his own twin died many years before. Because of his twin's death, Leo doesn't want any emotional attachments, and he knows he risks feeling too much with Jillian. It was interesting to watch their relationship unfold as Jillian explores the D/s lifestyle and tries to understand her own desires and propensities as she navigates her way through what ultimately is her sexual awakening. Equally as engaging was watching Leo's emotions come to life for the first time since losing his brother. His vulnerability and trepidation were masterfully written and heartbreakingly felt. I am not very familiar with erotica as a genre, but this felt very much like a very real love story with scorchingly hot love scenes. Like the contemporary romances I typically read...only on steroids! I can't wait to go back to read Undone #1 and am anxiously awaiting Brandon's story. An ARC was provided for an honest review
